July 17th in Gennett History, 1923: One of the First Integrated Sessions: The New Orleans Rhythm Kings with Jelly Roll Morton recorded “Mr. Jelly Lord” in Richmond. It appeared on Ge. 5220 and featured Morton (pno), Paul Mares (tpt), George Brunies (tbn), Don Murray & Glenn Scoville (cl. sax), Leon Rappolo (clt), Chink Martin (bass), Bob Gillette (bjo), & Ben Pollack (drums).
