June 15th in Gennett History, 1924: Art Landry and His Call of the North Orchestra recorded “Rip Saw Blues” in Richmond. It appeared on Gennett 5171 and Gennett 5255. Brian Rust accounts for the personnel via the recollection of Bill Landry, Art Landry’s brother, to include Tiny Whalen and Teddy Hall (c), Glenn Bass or Dale Hart (tb), Zane Simms (as/cl), Don Murray (ts/cl), unknown (p and bass), Sam Carr (bj/v) and prob. Stan King (d).
