Today, September 11th, the Starr-Gennett Foundation honors Thomas “Georgia Tom” Dorsey in Richmond, Indiana.  Here is a recording he made with Jane Lucas entitled “What’s That Smell?”

July 8th in Gennett History, 1929: Georgia Tom Dorsey recorded “Pigmeat Blues” in Richmond. The recording appeared on Champion 15815, Gennett 7008, Supertone 9507, and Varsity 6026. The Champion release sold approx. 1,700 copies between 1929 and 1930.
