March 9 in Gennett History…

1922: Husk O’Hare’s Super Orchestra of Chicago recorded “Boo Hoo Hoo” in Richmond. It appeared on Gennett 4850 and Starr-Gennett 9237. 

1923: Bailey’s Lucky Seven recorded three sides in NYC. They were “Wet Yo Thumb,” “Everything is KO in KY,” and “Carolina Mammy.” Each track featured Ernest Hare (vox), Phil Napoleon (?) (c), Miff Mole (tb), Benny Krueger (?) and unknown (sax), Gus Sharpe (cl), unknown (p), Nick Lucas (bjo), and Jack Roth (d). This is a recording of “Everything is KO in KY) which appeared on Gennett 5078 and Starr-Gennett 9379. 

1939: Ernest Hare passed away. He recorded “I Makes Mine Myself” on 6/30/1921 in NYC. It appeared on Gennett 4759 and Starr-Gennett 9154.
