December 15th in Gennett History…

1922: Cal Smith’s American Orchestra recorded “Down in Maryland” in NYC. It appeared on Gennett 5020. 


1927: John D. Fox with Cryin’ Sam Collins recorded “The Moaning Blues” in Richmond. This recording appeared on Gennett 6352 and Bell 1190. 


Fats Waller Gennett Walk of Fame Medallion

1943: Fats Waller passed away. He recorded with Caroline Johnson on “Mama’s Losin’ a Mighty Good Chance” in NYC on April 23, 1926. It appeared on Gennett 3307, Buddy 8033, and Champion 15102.
