November 2nd in Gennett History…

1921: Harry Raderman’s Orchestra recorded “Moxie” in NYC. This custom recording for the Moxie Soda Company appeared on their own Moxie label. The A side features Arthur Fields vocalizing his love of this syrupy sweet drink. 

 

1929: Carson Robison recorded “Why I Ain’t Got No Sweetheart” in Richmond. It appeared on Champion 15872, Champion 45145, Gennett 7051, Superior 2580, and Supertone 9549. The Champion 15872 sold 12,394 copies between 1929 and 1932.
