August 23rd in Gennett History…

1928: Ted Chestnut recorded “He’s Only A Miner Killed in the Ground” in Richmond.  It appeared on Gennett 6603, Champion 15587, and Supertone 9180.  The Champion issue sold over 1,800 copies.  The track featured Chestnut (v), Asa Martin (g), and Doc Roberts (f).
