April 17th in Gennett History…

1928: Jimmy Blythe and W.E. Burton recorded “Dustin the Keys” in Richmond. It appeared on Gennett 6502-B, Champion 15507, and QRS 7016. Champion 15507 sold approx. 900 copies between 1928 and 1929.

1931: Today is Tax Day and Gene Autry reminds us “Money Ain’t No Use Anyway.” He recorded it in Richmond on 2/9/1931. It appeared on Champion 16245, Champion 45156, Decca 5423, Decca X-1236, Melotone 45156, Montgomery Ward 8016, and Rex 9459. Champion 16245 sold 1,224 copies between 1931 and 1933.
