Vernon Dalhart Gennett Walk of Fame Medallion

October 6th in Gennett History, 1925: Vernon Dalhart recorded “The Wreck of the Shenandoah” in NYC. It appeared on Gennett 3158, Champion 15048, Challenge 506, and Silvertone 3812. The Champion ledger book indicates this recording was later rerecorded in 1928. On the 1928 royalty sheet, it has mx. 9768 crossed out and GEX – 1286 written above it. Notes sales of 6,292 between 1926 and 1930. However, another royalty sheet for mx. 9768 stated that this “Special Champion” sold 1,472 copies in 1925 and 1926.
