Artie Shaw Gennett Walk of Fame Medallion

December 30th in Gennett History, 2004: Artie Shaw passed away. Shaw’s first recording session occurred in Richmond on 8/13/1928 with Joe Cantor and His Orchestra. Unfortunately, the four sides went unreleased and are lost, including a track where Shaw was credited as a vocalist:

But here is one of his huge hits, “Begin The Beguine.”
