November 4th in Gennett History, 1926: Fred Rich and His Times Square Orchestra recorded “Don’t Take That Black Bottom Away” in NYC. It appeared on Gennett 6001, Aco G16142, Beltona 1147, Challenge 215, Challenge 358, Champion 15183, Coliseum 1971, Guardsman 2000, Scala 810, Silvertone 5036, and Superior 256. This recording featured vocalist Leroy Montesanto. The Champion release sold 2,077 copies in 1926 and 1927.
