The Maple City Four

July 26th in Gennett History, 1928: The Maple City Four (a WLS Radio artist) recorded several sides in Richmond including “Lonely Little Blue Bird” (Gennett 6543 and Supertone 9064), “Little Cotton Dolly” (rejected), “Dream River” (Gennett 6543 and Supertone 9064), “Kentucky Babe” (rejected), “The World is Waiting for the Sunrise” (rejected), “Loves Old Sweet Song” (rejected), “Roll Dem Bones” (Supertone 9193), and “Our Cabin Was Too Small” (rejected). Ten years later they appeared in “The Old Barn Dance” and performed “Green Grass Grew All Around.”
