Happy 105th Birthday, Artie Shaw! (5/23/1910). Gennett rejected Shaw’s first recordings when he was a member of the Joe Cantor Orchestra. Though Shaw is known for his prowess on clarinet, young Shaw also appeared as a vocalist on this unissued Gennett side entitled “Heartbroken and Lonely,” recorded on 8/13/1928 in Richmond.
