April 5th in Gennett History, 1983: Cliff Carlisle passed away. He recorded three dozen sides at Gennett including “Hobo Blues” with Wilbur Ball (g) on 9/22/1930. It appeared on Champion 16140, Champion 45179, Decca 5379, Supertone 9772, and Melotone 45179. Champion 16140 sold approx. 2,500 copies between 1930 and 1932.
