Big Bill Broonzy Starr Gennett Walk of Fame Medallion

Nov. 19th in Gennett History, 1930: Big Bill Broonzy (Big Bill Johnson) recorded “How You Want It Done” in Richmond. It appeared on Champion 16172, Superior 2560, and Savoy 501. Georgia Tom Dorsey, Jane Lucas, and The Hokum Boys in Richmond and Carson Robison in NYC also recorded on this day. also recorded for Gennett on this day in 1930. The Champion issue sold 1,561 copies in 1931 and 1932. Here is a video of Broonzy performing “How You Want It Done” in 1957.
