Nov. 4th in Gennett History, 1926: Fred Rich and His Times Square Orchestra recorded “Don’t Take That Black Bottom Away” in NYC. It appeared on Gennett 6001, Aco G16142, Beltona 1147, Challenge 215 & 358, Champion 15183, Coliseum 1971, Guardsman 2000, Scala 810, Silvertone 5036, and Superior 256. This recording featured vocalist Leroy Montesanto. The Champion release sold 2,077 copies in 1926 and 1927.
