Aug 22nd in Gennett History, 1932: Jimmy Johnson’s String Band recorded “Shipping Port” in Richmond. The recording appeared on Champion 16559. The band featured Basil Martin (gtr), Bill Mulligan (bjo) and Andy Palmer (fiddle). Performers royalties sent to Jimmy Johnson noted sales of 100 copies in 1933 (and 1 copy in 1934)
