Happy 113th Birthday Louis Armstrong! Armstrong was born on August 4, 1901. In 1923, he recorded twice in Richmond, Indiana as second cornet with King Oliver’s Creole Jazz Band. Here is “Chimes Blues” from the April 6, 1923 session. It appeared on Gennett 5135.
